The English Students’ Union presents our first academic seminar of the term, with award-winning professor and world-renown Beowulf expert, Dr Andy Orchard.
Come learn a little Anglo-Saxon, hear the poem read aloud by a trained orator and discuss themes found in the text.
Dr Orchard, provost at U of T’s Trinity College, is a professor of English and Medieval Studies; his books include “Pride and Prodigies: Studies in the Monsters of the ‘Beowulf’ Manuscript” (1995; rev. 2003); “Cassell Dictionary of Norse Myth and Legend” (1997; rev. 2002); and “A Critical Companion to ‘Beowulf'” (2003; rev. 2005).
Please join us for this seminar, a chance to learn about one of the earliest (and greatest) English texts.
